It was a sea change that saw Sue Riccelli leave Perth for the South West.
A Perth resident for most of her life, Sue was the Practice Development Officer for Parenting WA until the section was sadly closed and the provision of parenting support passed on to local not for profit organisations. A re-evaluation led her to pack up and head down south to beautiful ‘Busso’ – taking up a role with Anglicare WA as the Parenting Connection WA South West Coordinator. Community minded, Sue has previously worked as a Police Officer for 15 years, Protective Behaviours Coordinator and has a Graduate Diploma in Family Therapy.
Her new role has been challenging, extraordinarily busy, but incredibly rewarding. Luckily, Sue can draw on the talents of her amazing South West support team, Cathy and Libby.
The flexibility of the role has allowed the PCWA South West team to be part of some wonderful projects such as the Radiance Network and Paint the CAPE REaD, as well as offer unique parenting support through groups such as; Equine Assisted Therapy, Indigenous Positive Birthing Program and MINT (Facilitated Multicultural Playgroup).
Sue embraces the pristine and diverse environment she now lives in and regularly cycles, hikes and watches whales. She lives with her goofy rescue dog, an English Staffy, has two adult children who stay regularly and has a new partner ‘Terry’ who lives in Dunsborough. The debate over which town is the better is always a topic of conversation at the dinner table!
Sue has recently become a Councillor for the City of Busselton and is also on the Zonta Committee, supporting women’s basic rights worldwide – never a dull moment!
